Three Areas To Watch For Tropical Development From Gulf To The Atlantic

Next week, observers are keeping an eye on a region in the Gulf of Mexico for gradual tropical development.

We are keeping an eye on the potential for tropical growth in two more Atlantic regions. The next Atlantic storm will be called Emily.

Since the start of the Atlantic hurricane season, there haven't been many storms, but currently there are three places to watch for potential tropical development, from the Gulf of Mexico to the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

Low likelihood of growth of the Gulf of Mexico There is currently no system in place to monitor the Gulf. However, low pressure may develop in the central or western Gulf by the beginning of next week, according to forecast model advice.

This potential development is connected to a weak, dusty tropical wave from Africa that is currently travelling west through the northern Leeward Islands and the nearby Atlantic.

Tropical depressions and hurricanes can frequently arise in these extended regions of low pressure.

This weekend into the beginning of next week, the tropical wave will crawl westward into the Bahamas, Florida, and ultimately the northwest Gulf while attempting to shake off dry air.
