8 Most Expensive Geodes Ever Sold

The Empress of Uruguay, an ancient amethyst geode from Uruguay, sold for $1.2 million in 2016. Weighing over 2.5 tons, it's over 130 million years old.

Mexico's Cave of the Crystals Geode, estimated at over 500,000 years old, sold for $900,000 in 2007. It boasts massive gypsum crystal formations. 

Another notable Mexican geode, the Naica Mine Geode, housing large selenite crystals, sold for $100,000 in 2001. 

Brazil's Crystal Palace Geode, an enormous amethyst geode weighing over 2.5 tons, fetched $900,000 in 2008.

The Aladdin’s Cave Geode, a substantial amethyst geode from Brazil, weighing over 2 tons, was sold for $350,000 in 2009.
