TikTok is set to challenge YouTube with this ‘big’ change

TikTok, traditionally known for short-form content, is testing a new feature allowing users to upload videos up to 30 minutes in length.

This move puts TikTok in direct competition with YouTube, which has been a platform for longer duration videos.

Users on the iOS beta version of TikTok have reported spotting the option, suggesting a potential expansion beyond the app's usual format.

Android beta users in the UK have also noted the testing of this extended video duration feature on TikTok.

Over time, TikTok has increased its maximum time limit for posts, from 15 seconds to 60 seconds, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, and up to 10 minutes in 2022.

In October of the previous year, TikTok began experimenting with 15-minute video uploads, further diversifying content options on the platform.

YouTube, a Google-owned platform, has already introduced short-form videos called Shorts, averaging over 70 billion daily views

The introduction of longer videos on TikTok opens up more platforms for content sharing, reducing restrictions for creators.
