Gandhi Jayanti: Bandipora admin kick-starts project WASH

The District Administration Bandipora, in partnership with Jammu & Kashmir Students Welfare Mission (JKSWM), has initiated Project WASH to promote impeccable sanitary hygiene practice

This initiative is a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's commitment to women's empowerment and his respect for "Nari Shakti" (women power).

It is a first-of-its-kind initiative in Bandipora aimed at promoting WASH, with support from the 'We Are Human Foundation (WAHF)' based in New Delhi.

The project was launched under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Owais Ahmed, IAS, and coordinated by District Programme Officer, POSHAN, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak.

District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora, Hidayatullah Mir, provided noble supervision for the program, which focuses on improving women's health and hygiene.

Sanitary kit distribution and hygiene awareness camps were conducted at various locations, including New District Hospital Bandipora

The project has reached out to women's self-help groups, ICDS centers, and various areas within the district, including Arin, Aloosa, Bagh, Chewa

The project aligns with Mahatma Gandhi's recognition of women's influential role in shaping society, emphasizing empowerment and nation-building.
